Recently I found myself going through a dark time and wanting to drink again, I have been sober since 9/11/2023. I even considered suicide. It’s through my care coordinators that I heard about Rhonda’s House. I have many memories of the events of 9/11/2001; I was one of the firefighters in NY at the time and remembering those events is so hard on me emotionally and mentally. I have struggled with alcohol on and off since then. I moved to Texas to live with friends so that I wouldn’t be alone, that’s where I met my wife. When my wife passed away, I began to struggle again. That’s when a friend from Iowa invited me to stay with him. My recovery has always been on going.
The warm and safe environment at Rhonda’s House has made it possible for me to get my personal life in order and get the things I need to be independent and healthy again. All the staff are so supportive in assisting me in reaching my goals. Rhonda’s House literally saved my life! My goal from here is to get into extended rehab so that I can get a fresh start and live my best life.
