Stacy joined us 8 weeks ago as an Intern from Iowa Central College. She will be graduating May 4, 2023 with her Associates Degree in Human Services and will continue on to Upper Iowa University to obtain her Bachelors Degree in the same field to include Social Work. Her journey started in 2012, when she took a peer to peer class with NAMI after experiencing a serious mental health crisis & diagnosis. Todd Noack was one of the leaders for this class and he mentioned to her about an upcoming class to become a peer support specialist. In the years to follow she became passionate about wanting to help & support others in giving them the same hope she experienced. She started her Human Services studies online, however a divorce in 2013 set her back and she had to hold off on her education, she needed to do what was best for her recovery & her kids at that time. In 2021, she was ready to begin the journey she was so passionate about and began her studies again. The last step before graduation was “fieldwork”. Immediately Todd came to mind, she knew he could guide her to the best place for this “fieldwork” and he sure did. Stacy spent half her time working with Rhonda’s House & the other half with The Wellness Center and has been a joy to work with. She will be missed & we wish her the best on her future!! Stacy is a wonderful example to what recovery is and can be!
