Hey guys, my name is Kayla. I am the Outreach Coordinator here at LCPRS, a Peer Recovery Coach and am certified in Smart Recovery. I’ve been in the human services field for the last two years and previously worked as a case manager for the homeless population in Clinton & Jackson County. I am also a full-time college student, working towards my bachelor’s in human services. As a person in recovery, I choose this career path to give back to those in the community who are struggling as I once was.

I am a person in recovery from methamphetamine and this year will celebrate 5 years clean. I want to show my children there is a better life than the one I once lived. Being in active addiction caused my children and I to be separated for almost 2 years, that was a very trying time for all of us. I want them to be proud of the woman and mother I am today. Recovery has given me the opportunity to be the mother they deserve. I have also been able to rebuild a relationship with my brothers, who I have always been very close to as well as reconnect with my friends I had before addiction.

Today I enjoy spending time with my 4 children and our friends, having cookouts or movie nights. I am an avid reader, I enjoy listening to music, and spending time with my dog, Molly. Getting clean was the hardest and most rewarding thing I have ever accomplished. Without my recovery I wouldn’t have the amazing life I have managed to rebuild and continue to live today!
